Build Confidence. Deliver Better Care: The Endamar Approach to training confident, capable carer staff.

In our guide to identifying exceptional home care services, we talked about something many people won’t be aware of: that not all carers receive the same type of training. So, if you’re exploring extra support for you or a loved one, asking about the training carers receive can offer real peace of mind that you are choosing a provider that invests in its team’s professional development and excellence.

Likewise, if you are a carer or considering a job in care, you want to know there are courses and providers out there committed to ensuring you have a long, successful and rewarding career.

That’s why we are incredibly excited and proud to announce the launch of S&P Care’s sister company, Endamar Academy – a new specialist training provider that will help to continue raising care standards across the UK.

Founded by our very own Managing Director, Casey Jonson, Endamar Academy supports not only our team at S&P Care Services but care professionals nationwide with a range of practical, flexible, accredited courses.

We asked Casey to tell us more.

Q: What is Endamar Academy and why is it important?

Endamar Academy is a new specialist training provider focused on improving the skills, confidence, and prospects of UK care professionals entering or advancing within the sector.

For clients and their families, it means higher standards of care. For carers and providers, it means access to training that’s immediately useful and based on the real situations carers face every day. And, for our communities, I hope it will mean a greater perception of care as a long and rewarding career path – because that’s what it has been for me.

Right now, there simply aren’t enough people choosing care as a career. With an ageing population and other challenges, such as recent reforms to stop overseas recruitment of care staff, this a challenge that affects everyone – and one we can’t afford to ignore.

Q: Why did you decide to create Endamar Academy?

The inspiration came from more than 25 years of working in the care sector, seeing both the strengths and the gaps in the system. To me, there was a clear need for a training provider that meets more than just compliance standards. We have been missing a provider that equips care professionals with the real-world experience to ensure they feel confident and capable of applying what they have learnt in practice, before even leaving the ‘classroom’.

Too many care workers enter the field without enough hands-on training, which isn’t fair to them or the people they support.

That’s why our course content is rooted in practical training scenarios. We want to ensure our students come away with the confidence to immediately apply what they’ve learnt to their job.

Q: What makes Endamar Academy different from other training providers?

There are some great training providers out there, but a lot of them operate at scale, which can mean they lack the learner-centric, flexibility, and real-world grounding that make a big difference to carers and care providers.

Perhaps the biggest thing that sets Endamar apart is our deep sector insight. We have a dual role as both a care provider (through S&P Care) and educator, which means we understand what’s happening on the ground, and we bring that into every course we create. Training is personal to us, and we’re passionate about delivering more than qualifications – we want to develop confident, capable professionals who are ready to make a real impact in people’s lives.

This brings me to another way that Endamar stands out. There’s currently a lack of flexible, accessible training options that meet learners where they are – particularly for people working full-time or returning after a career break. This is not helping our sector to recruit and retain talent.

Endamar aims to provide flexible training through online, in-person, and hybrid models, making learning accessible for a wide range of learners – whether they’re new to the sector or already in work and juggling existing care responsibilities.

Q: What types of courses does Endamar Academy offer?

Endamar supports both individual learners and care providers looking to upskill their teams, with a strong focus on values-based care and personal growth. Our courses now include:

  • Nationally approved and accredited qualifications (Level 2 to Level 5 in Adult Social Care)
  • CPD accredited courses for professional development in areas like dementia, medication, and moving & handling.
  • Flexible delivery: online, in-person, or blended learning.

We can also help care providers deliver tailored workforce training; and we’re developing a digital learning platform that will enhance learner engagement and tracking. Our long-term vision is to build a trusted hub for high-quality care training that supports both individual learners and organisations in delivering outstanding care.

Q: Why does training matter when choosing a care provider?

Because training directly affects quality of care. Families want peace of mind that their loved ones are being looked after by care staff who are not only qualified but also confident and experienced in all scenarios. That’s why we recommend asking potential providers what training their staff receive, and how often.

By choosing a provider that works with Endamar Academy, or holds similar training values, families can be confident their care staff are well-prepared not just on paper, but in practice. At S&P Care, every one of our team members will go through Endamar training as part of their ongoing development. It’s part of how we maintain high standards, and how we show our ongoing commitment to our clients and their families.
